J's Tam

J Loves her Tam (hat), we purchased it at the local hair store for under $10. It's light weight and she can wear it even when the weather is warm.

I don't know what it is about it but J loves her Tam!!

Another Twist Out

When you gently un-twist the hair it makes this curl pattern called a twist-out!!!

(don't comb or run your fingers through your hair or you will ruin the curl pattern!!!)

Chunky Twists

Chunky Twists can be put into a variety of styles; pony tails, headbands, 1/2 up 1/2 down

We will leave them in for a few days before carefully un-twisting them and letting her wear a twist-out for another few days.

For Jamilah's Chunky Twists I used a mixture of products; I often like the characteristics of several different products and use more than one to achieve the desired look. For these twists I used; Darcy's Botanicals "Coils Curling Jelly", Blended Beauty "Butter me up!" and a tiny bit of Knotty boy dread wax.

Wooden beads

I washed Jamilah's hair with some sulfate free shampoo called Just Naturals, then used a leave-in conditioner from Mixed Chicks. I brushed her hair out with a denman brush and sectioned into triangle shaped parts with a rattail comb. I then added these wooden beads that I found at the local hair shop and Loved. I got 3 packs for $2.00!!! I loved the detail of the carved beads, I really hope it shows up in these pics!
