POOKA "pure and simple" review

what the website has to say:

Our newest decadent moisturizer! A light Shea butter whipped to perfection. A light moisturizer for the entire body with a delicious fresh sugah scent, you'll be tempted to eat a spoonful!

Our experience:

I can't explain the luscious scent of Fresh Sugah it smells so good, not really a sweet scent but more of an earthy sensual type scent. It literally feels like whipped cream and smooths onto the skin the same way....like BUTTA! It worked really well on my daughter's dry eczema prone skin!

what the website has to say:

This blend of Shea Butter & Olive oil moisturizes hair and scalp. Rosemary essential oil stimulates hair growth and Lavender essential to soothe the scalp

Our experience:

Shea and Olive Hair Butter has a soothing lavender scent and melts in your hands and into the hair. After washing Jamilah's hair I smoothed the butter through her hair and it helped me to detangle her tresses. The Shea and Olive hair butter soothed her dry scalp and added shine to her hair!! You can also use this hair butter on your skin....my hands were soft as a baby after massaging the hair butter through Jamilah's hair!

J's Tam

J Loves her Tam (hat), we purchased it at the local hair store for under $10. It's light weight and she can wear it even when the weather is warm.

I don't know what it is about it but J loves her Tam!!

Another Twist Out

When you gently un-twist the hair it makes this curl pattern called a twist-out!!!

(don't comb or run your fingers through your hair or you will ruin the curl pattern!!!)

Chunky Twists

Chunky Twists can be put into a variety of styles; pony tails, headbands, 1/2 up 1/2 down

We will leave them in for a few days before carefully un-twisting them and letting her wear a twist-out for another few days.

For Jamilah's Chunky Twists I used a mixture of products; I often like the characteristics of several different products and use more than one to achieve the desired look. For these twists I used; Darcy's Botanicals "Coils Curling Jelly", Blended Beauty "Butter me up!" and a tiny bit of Knotty boy dread wax.

Wooden beads

I washed Jamilah's hair with some sulfate free shampoo called Just Naturals, then used a leave-in conditioner from Mixed Chicks. I brushed her hair out with a denman brush and sectioned into triangle shaped parts with a rattail comb. I then added these wooden beads that I found at the local hair shop and Loved. I got 3 packs for $2.00!!! I loved the detail of the carved beads, I really hope it shows up in these pics!

On a personal note....

I haven't been blogging lately but I have been working on many changes. There were a few things bothering me that kind of spiraled into a depression in which I didn't even want to get out of bed...it started a bit before Christmas....money issues....past issues were triggered and before I knew it I was just a depressed mess. I hardly wanted to leave my room and I certainly didn't feel like I had anything valuable to share with the world. So my e-mails have gone unanswered, my blogs have gone untouched and I have completely lost touch with my cyber world.

I have started seeing a awesome counselor to deal with some of the issues that have been eating away at me. She's great, they could not have found me a better match....I'm journaling my journey since it's a little too personal to blog....yes,,, ha ha...I do have some boundaries of what I will not blog about but perhaps one day I'll write a book.

I'm here...planning some new ideas for "Hair with Purpose" I have some backed up reviews to work on and a lot of unanswered mail....so if you need to get ahold of me please e-mail me at life.w.purpose@gmail.com or for hair related e-mails hairwithpurpose@gmail.com

Lots of Love and Blessings ~ Jennifer
