A few years back a company sent me a sample of olive oil to use for eye makeup remover. From that day forward I did not buy another eye makeup remover. I always used olive oil and a cotton ball or soft cloth or tissue to remove any eye makeup. It worked very well and the skin around my eyes was never dry like it had been in the past.
When I reached my mid-30's my face was getting pretty dry. Not only dry but it started looking red every time I washed it and it would take all day to turn back to the normal color. I tried a few different face washes, okay I tried A LOT of different face washes and none really worked. Some seemed to work at first but after some time they stopped working and it seemed like I was always trying to repair the feeling the soaps caused with more and more moisturizer.
One day I was in the bathtub and looked over at my bottle or Argan oil. (I use Cleopatra's Choice) And I started massaging it into my face. I blotted it off with a soft dry cloth. My face felt clean, looked clean and was super soft. When my face isn't as dry I use some olive oil and when it is more dry I use the Argan oil, which is thicker.
My face was red, dry and flaky when I stopped using soap. My cheeks were the most red and my nose was the most flaky. My forehead had acne on the sides and a few spots on my cheeks.
Now my face is soft. No more acne and no more flaky skin... and yes, it's clean! lol
Turns out, Oil dissolves Oil !!
Yep, that oil and junk on your skin can be dissolved by massaging natural oils into your skin and removed when you tissue them off!
Here are some great face washes:
Olive Oil
yep, the kind you can get right at the grocery store!!
Argan Oil
a bit more pricey but you only need to use a little!!
This is chocked full of OILS !! Awesome cleanser!
A natural cleansing cream that moisturizes and gently cleans at the same time. The nourishing properties of natural oils and butters are whipped with our moisturizing Aloe soap to create a gentle face wash! The yellow color comes from sustainable Organic Virgin Palm Oil, one of the richest plant sources of carotenes and antioxidants. Mango butter, rosehips oil and shea butter are excellent for dry, aging or irritated skin -
Our Experience:
Natural, Herbal scent, no added perfumes. Definitely in line with my new oil-cleansing regime. This whipped butter is a bit easier to cleanse with because it is a butter instead of an oil so it's easier to handle. Only a small amount is needed, a little goes a very long way so at $14.00 for a 4oz jar, it's a really good value.
And if your skin STILL needs a moisturizer after cleansing with these great oil products I can recommend a good one for you too!
You can dap a bit more Olive or Argan oil on your face and around your eyes
or try this product from Chargin Valley Soap & Salve
Shea Olein and Olive Squalane are whipped and whipped to create this silky delicate natural face and eye cream. One of the first areas to show signs of aging is the thin skin surrounding the eyes. This delicate skin, with fewer sebaceous glands, and less collagen and elastin than skin elsewhere on your face, needs special moisturizing. Human skin naturally produces lubricating squalene, but production decreases as we age. Squalane and Shea Olein, often found in anti-aging products, promote cell growth and help with dry skin and skin irritations. -
Our Experience:
Again, the whipped texture is awesome, easier to apply than a straight oil. This is silky feeling, not heavy at all and moisturizes very well. A little goes a long way at $9.50 for a 1oz. jar it too is a very good value.
